Dear Members and Friends of LaGrange Arts Council: The Arts Center building was built around 1905, and in fact, it is said to be the oldest brick building in La Grange. Because of the age of the building, there are structural problems requiring repair and restoration. This need is why this year's membership drive is more important than ever. After consulting with NC Preservation, we had the roof assessed. We think that the moisture problem in the kitchen and parlor has been addressed from above. Next will be looking at the studs and the outside brick. The Preservation consultant told us how to address the outside bricks, which will be our next project. But all this takes money. Since the pandemic, we have not had much revenue, but we will still have monthly bills. We need your HELP. Your membership helps with the expense of keeping the Center open and expanding awareness of the arts in the community. To remain a member for the 2022-2023 year, please return the enclosed membership card and your check made payable to the La Grange Arts Council. We are selling LaGrange High School (11x13 pen and ink print) for $25. Also, "A View from the Tracks" (18x12 watercolor print) by Mary Margaret Harrison for $40. A collage of five iconic LaGrange sites (Garden Club, Rotary Building, Kinsey Feed Store, Rouse House and LaGrange Academy) is for sale for $10 (20x26 watercolor print). Chick Wooten notecards with 8 different ole timey scenes are available for $40. Lastly, “Christmas Eve on Railroad Street” notecards are 8 for $40. The La Grange Arts Center can be rented for social events, receptions, and classes. If you know anyone that might be interested, contact Paula Boldt (252-521-1903) for details. Available also, at the cost of $100, are engraved bricks to honor or memorialize a person, family, business, church, or organization. The memorial brick sidewalks are located at the Arts Center's entrances on Caswell Street and Railroad Street. We have a new engraver, and our turnaround time is two weeks. We have over 100 slots for engraved bricks!
